If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Rev 20:15)Unfortunately, Rev. 20:15 describes the vast majority of mankind (Mt. 7:14). Their fate will be in the lake of fire, which is the second death (Rev. 20:14). The only other group are those who do have their names in the book of life, because they died believing in Jesus Christ, who is our "life" (Jn. 14:6; 1 John 5:12,13; etc.). That entitles them to New Jerusalem:
Nothing impure will ever enter it [New Jerusalem, Rev. 21:2], nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. (Rev 21:27)That means one's eternal destiny after the millennium will be either in the lake of fire to be tormented day and night forever with the devil (Rev. 20:10) or be in New Jerusalem where God's throne and the tree of life are (Rev. 2:7; 22:14)! That alone shows the vital importance of the salvation of our souls (1 Pet. 1:9). There will not be two groups of overcomers after the millennium -- one with an earthly hope and the other ruling from heaven. All overcomers will be in the New Jerusalem and that number will certainly supercede 144,000 in heaven. At that future point, there will also be a new heaven and earth (Rev. 21:1). This present earth and everything in it will be laid bare (2 Pet 3:10). That explains these verses, which confuse the Jehovah's Witnesses:
The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever (Psa 37:29).
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth (Mat 5:5).After the millennium and into the Perfect Age, New Jerusalem will be on the new Earth, which doesn't exist yet! It will be the center of the universe because that is where God's throne will be located.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Rev 21:4)To add to that, the many aches and pains we have all experienced from our mortal bodies will also be gone forever. We will have a new glorified, incorruptible body which will not be susceptible to sickness, injury or death (Phil 3:21; 1 Cor 15:53). Imagine that! That truth alone plus God's truth that there will be no more devil will seem like Paradise. The real Paradise, however, is much better since we will be in God's holy presence along with other righteous people starting with righteous Abel! These are the things you should ponder in your mind! Such will bless and encourage you to press on through the rough days you will face during your earthly test. Without doubt, after the millennium very exciting days are ahead. So don't get discouraged and don't give up. Keep sowing to please the Spirit, so you can reap eternal life (Gal. 6:8,9). Please pass these exciting and encouraging truths about the time after the millennium to others.
