A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after his illness and recovery: I said, "In the prime of my life must I go through THE GATES OF DEATH and be robbed of the rest of my years?" (Isa 38:9,10)That was part of Hezekiah's prayer when it first appeared he was going to die. The "gates of death" is the point of no return back from death, unless that person is raised from the dead, as we read several times in the NT (Jn. 11:43,44; etc.). Here are 2 more times the phrase is used:
O LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death, (Psa 9:13)
They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. (Psa 107:18)

"And they will go out and LOOK UPON the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; THEIR WORM WILL NOT DIE, NOR WILL THEIR FIRE BE QUENCHED , and they will be loathsome to all mankind." (Isa 66:24)WOW! Ponder that statement! It is very stirring, yet not crystal clear. Is that verse saying that the faithful will see the wicked dead in unquenchable fire? That seems to be the case. If so, that scenario would be similar to Abraham (and Lazarus) viewing the rich unnamed Jewish man in fiery torment (Luke 16:24).
Their sight, in that horrible condition, is "loathsome"; and what is "THEIR WORM" that does not die? That is another mystery, and a very disturbing one, at that.

(John 17:3)That verse has been a MAJOR STUMBLING BLOCK for Jehovah's Witnesses, because they think their leaders are the ONLY ones on the planet who can correctly teach the Bible. As a consequence, they wrongly believe the knowledge they can gain from Watchtower literature - and ONLY the Watchtower literature - will lead to their salvation - everlasting life. (JWs seem to be unaware Jn. 17:3 refers to a knowing God, as in a relationship.)
By comparing scripture with scripture, we know that the JW interpretation is false because the Philippian jailer was saved immediately after he received the gospel message (Acts 16:30,31). He had VERY LITTLE spiritual knowledge, except to believe on the Lord Jesus for salvation.

(1) The Apostles were all lost until Acts 2, but Jesus stated his disciples were his mother, brothers and sisters before that point (Mt. 12:49,50).
(2) Moreover, the Apostles were his empowered representatives, who were sent out to preach and heal, yet they would be arrested, and their "Father" is identified as God (Mt. 10:1-20). That is before Acts 2.
(3) Also, Phillip preached in Samaria, and many believed and were Christian baptized (Acts 8:6-13), but none received the Holy Spirit until Peter, and John placed their hands on them at a later time (Acts 8:14-17).
