(Acts 4:24-30)**They did not even pray to be delivered from persecution unto death. Paul requested such later (2 Thess. 3:2), but the Twelve did not make such a request there in Acts 4.

The above practice is FAR, FAR - very far from the NT church depicted in the book of Acts and mentioned throughout the epistles. **Christians are in an intense, spiritual war with sin and the forces of darkness, which are trying to deceive and overtake us. We are to BATTLE against them, putting on the whole armor of God and spreading God's word as far and wide as possible, as we endure hardship and walk in holy love.
We MUST get direction from scripture and incorporate those truths into our personal lives and goals, being continually guarded and conscious that we, ourselves, can yet go to eternal fire.

(1 Th 3:3)Righteous SUFFERING is universal; it is not something unusual, and it can include the most unjust, strange and painful persecutions. However, having the knowledge that your persecutions will yield you a REWARD, worthy of REJOICING over, can help you endure through them:
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because GREAT IS YOUR REWARD IN HEAVEN, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Mat 5:10-12)
Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and LEAP FOR JOY, BECAUSE GREAT IS YOUR REWARD IN HEAVEN. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets. (Luke 6:22,23)

At the first instant of ongoing temptation, speak out loud or whisper that scripture to the devil, and REFUSE to think about his sinful imaginations he is attacking you with. That is how you FIGHT spiritually (along with prayer to God for mercy and help) and how you will win.
Remember, THE BATTLEFIELD IS IN THE MIND, and that is where the devil will tempt YOU. You MUST guard your thoughts. FILL YOU MIND WITH WHOLESOME THOUGHTS from God's word. Pray this often:
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psa 19:14)
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' (Mat 6:13)
