At that time MANY will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. (Mat 24:10,11)
The Bible teaches before the rapture occurs, two things will transpire: (1) The [great] apostasy and (2) The revealing of the antichrist.
When a person is deceived they are misled by false appearance or statement. Such a person thinks things are one way when in reality they are a different way. This sort of thing will abound in the last days, especially religiously.

In 1 Kings 13, we learn of a man of God that had some exceptional traits, yet he got deceived and, though sincere, suffered greatly as a consequence! We can learn much from his downfall.
