Miracles are always attention grabbers. They will produce an audience that will attentively watch and listen. That is how Sathya Sai Baba (sometimes called Satya Sai Baba) got such a large following of multiple millions.
People are too often curiously attracted to miracles to their own harm. Hence, when a miracle-performing false guide comes along, he can produce much spiritual harm by way of spiritual deception! That was surely the case with Sathya Sai Baba!Unlike the miracle performing followers of Jesus Christ mentioned in the bible, such as the Apostles, Stephen, Philip, etc. who all taught in accord with Scripture, Sathya Sai Baba was much different and taught an anti-bible message!
The gift of miracles and healing in God's word (1 Cor. 12:28) has a dangerous demonic counterfeit, just like there are counterfeit gospels and counterfeit servants of God. For many that seems impossible because some wrongly think all miracles are from God. That is absolutely not true! That is vital truth to know in our day of great deception and especially as one considers the Sai Baba miracles.
Furthermore, most of us know the antichrist, also called the lawless one or the beast of Revelation, will one day come into power, but too few seem to know his coming will be with miracles, signs and wonders obviously by the power of the devil!
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. (2 Th 2:9,10)
Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast.... " (Rev 13:4a)The dragon (the devil) gives his authority to the antichrist, who performs miracles.
And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. (Rev 13:13-15)The false prophet's miracles, from the power of the devil, were:
But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. (Rev 19:20)
... Satya Sai was born eight years after the passing of Shirdi Baba, also that he assumed the name of Sai Baba in his fourteenth year and was manifesting the full powers associated with Shirdi Baba by his fifteenth year. These powers, the Swami felt, must be what his guru meant by 'properties', and the vision had been given to confirm in his mind that his Lord was again walking the earth. (p. 62)That concept alone was the basis for much harm revolving around Sathya Sai Baba for it teaches reincarnation and sets up precious souls for eternal destruction.
Satya Sai Baba -- his followers believe him to be a reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi who died in 1918 -- appears to have been born with phenomenal powers, which he used in childhood and has employed constantly and openly ever since. They include all the varieties of E.S.P. and P.K. known to psychic science and more besides. The author, a Westerner devoted to science and logic, spent many months with Satya Sai Baba; he claims to have found that his "unscientific," "illogical" miracles were, in fact, genuine yogic siddhis. He found, too, that along with Christ-like miraculous powers went a Christ-like love, compassion and the God-knowledge that opens the door to a new vision of life. (Back Cover)ESP (or extrasensory perception) and PK (or psychokinesis) are not gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:28); neither are bilocation, levitation and others which are attributed to Sathya Sai Baba. Without question, Sathya Sai Baba's so-called Christ-like love is only imaginary, and based on Murphet's biased opinion, who doesn't know about the real Christ of the bible and his unchanging teachings. The same can be said about Sai Baba's followers:
Reincarnation is part of the Hindu religion, and Satya's acquaintances had no difficulty with that idea in itself. (p. 58)The anti-Christian concept of reincarnation is mentioned. That alone is enough to flatly reject Satya Sai Baba as being a true spiritual light from the living God and quickly locate him as a powerful enemy of God's truth. Hinduism is not the message of the bible and, therefore, not from God. The Lord Jesus taught there is but one true God and there will be a resurrection unto life or condemnation (John 5:29). Clearly, the Lord Jesus didn't teach millions of gods or reincarnation. After physical death, one is judged (Heb. 9:27). His destiny is either in a paradise in God's presence (Luke 23:43; Phil. 1:21,23; 1 Cor. 2:9; Rev. 21:4) or fiery torment (Psa. 11:6; Mt. 13:41,42; Mt. 25:41,46; etc.).
No one has ever been or will ever be reincarnated. Do not be deceived. That means Satya Sai Baba certainly was not a reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba! Shirdi Sai Baba was considered an avatar -- an incarnation of God -- just as Satya Sai Baba's followers considered him to be, but both are pure fiction!
Satya Sai Baba clearly got attention and fame from his miracles witnessed by multitudes, which unfortunately appeared to be genuine and beneficial to the author and millions of others. They were not genuine as far as having the Almighty creator God of heaven and earth as the supernatural source behind those miracles. In summary, the kinds of healing miracles Sathya Sai Baba performed included healings of vision, loss of sanity, TB, leprosy, cancer, severe burns, heart attack, strokes and physical death.
To describe Satya Sai Baba with Christ-like love, compassion and the God-knowledge is most disturbing to anyone who knows the biblical message, but typical for the Satya Sai Baba devotees. Since, Satya Sai Baba taught contrary to the Lord Jesus in so many ways, how could anyone rightly make such a comparison? Ponder this relevant passage:
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (2 Cor 11:14,15)Satya Sai Baba masqueraded around as a servant of righteousness, while lethally misleading his followers into paganism and idolatry. Jesus also warned in Matthew 7:15 of ravenous wolves in sheep's clothing, that is, such deadly people will appear on the surface as harmless Christians. Hence, deadly spiritual deceivers can appear to be Christ-like in many ways! Satya Sai Baba is just one example!
Jesus Christ performed a similar wide range of miracles. But perhaps the emphasis was different. The Nazarene seems to have concentrated more on healing the sick, the maimed, and the insane. But he also performed much of what we now call "phenomena"; he levitated over the water, he made himself invisible; he multiplied food; he turned water to wine; he raised the "dead".And, if the records are straight, his greatest phenomenal magic came at the end of the story. After death he dematerialised his body to bring it out of the tomb, rematerialised it into a plastic malleable form so that at times it was not recognisable by his disciples, and finally on the Mount of Olives he raised that etherialised body of earth to another plane of existence. Krishna and Christ are the two outstanding miracle-workers of the world's scriptures. (p. 13)
Jesus didn't levitate over the water. He walked on water (Mt. 14:25) and Peter did the same for a time (Mt. 14:29). Again, this distortion of the facts lowers Jesus in an effort to make Sathya Sai Baba similar, when the real similarities between the Lord Jesus Christ to Sathya Sai Baba are as great as the bright shining sun to blackest darkness! Howard Murphet wrote, Krishna and Christ are the two outstanding miracle-workers of the world's scriptures. Murphet, a devotee of Satya Sai Baba, placed the Lord Jesus alongside a pagan mythical false god and also referred to the Bhagavad-gita as scripture. That too renders his book about Sai Baba poisonous, but there is much more.
Though neglected, Jesus preached the word of God while he did all of his wonderful miracles! He also endorsed the whole Old Testament scriptures and promised the New Testament -- the whole bible. Jesus even cited Scripture for support of his follower's behavior (Mt. 12:3-8; etc.) and quoted scripture to the devil (Mt. 4:4,7,10). Sai Baba never did either or ever could, because the light from God's word is a violent contradiction to Satya Sai Baba's anti-bible teachings.
Pendants, chains, rings, necklaces and other objects I have watched him pluck from the air in this way and then give to some delighted individual ... Then he lifted his hand from where it lay, and began to circle it in the air about eighteen inches from my face. One moment the hand was empty, the next it was holding something big that protruded brightly on either side of his fist. He shook this out to reveal a long necklace of coloured stones. It was what the Indians call a jappamala which, like the Christian rosary, is used for prayers. (p. 37)NOTE: Sai Baba created prayer beads like the Catholic rosary! (There are no Christian rosaries.) That is yet another strike against Sathya Sai Baba, since the rosary is a direct violation of how Jesus taught to pray and how not to pray:
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Mat 6:7,8)The very way Jesus taught how not to pray was promoted by the pagan aid of prayer beads! God's power could never be behind such religious deception, for it would be counterproductive to true Christian prayer. Sathya Sai Baba's miracle leads one into an errant and sinful way to pray. Again, such an anti-bible-message miracle reveals the rotten fruit and supernatural power source behind Sai Baba.
Apart from the materialisation phenomena of the type that I had already seen there were tales involving almost every kind of miracle found in the historic and spiritual records of the fantastic. Among them were the healing miracles -- the curing of many kinds of diseases, some deep-seated and chronic, some considered incurable by medical opinion. (p. 38)
A woman devotee from Mangalore was suffering from tuberculosis. There was bleeding and X-rays showed a cavity of the right lung. Medical opinion was that the disease was probably curable but that effective treatment would take about two years. Instead of undergoing the prescribed treatment, she came to Prasanti Nilayam.FYI: vibhuti is considered sacred ash in Hinduism.Sai Baba gave her vibhuti from his hand, and she was put in the hospital.
About a week later, when I visited the hospital myself, she was still there convalescing. But all symptoms of the tuberculosis had gone, the doctors assured me. She had been cured in a week instead of two years. (p. 39)
A young man living in Bombay, but recently returned from Switzerland, was suffering from internal trouble which doctors in both Europe and Bombay had diagnosed as cancer. He was not a devotee of Sai Baba, but a friend had urged him to go to Prasanti Milayam. In desperation he went and stayed, not in the hospital, but in a building near the canteen. There he waited and prayed to Baba for help.Contrary to God's servants, we now read where a devotee of Sai Baba prayed to Baba for help! So as Christians pray to God for help because God has such power to help, Sai Baba's followers viewed him as a god and prayed to him instead -- more bad fruit! Sai Baba never corrected people for such idolatry. One night he had a dream in which someone visited him, carrying a shining knife. When he awoke that was all he could remember, he told Dr. Sitaramiah and others; the vague visitor and the clear bright knife. Perhaps it was not really a dream. To the canteen manager who took him breakfast in the morning he showed a large, mysterious blood-stain on his sheet. Had Baba performed an operation while he slept? Such strange things had been known before. Anyway, all signs and symptoms of the cancer had vanished. (p. 39)
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. (2 Th 2:9-12)The same Greek words for miracles, signs and wonders are used to describe the healings and miracles performed by the Lord Jesus (Heb. 2:4)! Since Jesus really did heal people, it is possible by the power of the devil behind the antichrist - or any of the devil's other servants -- real healings occur to deceive!
But the big climax of the day was to come, and many people talked to me about it. They told me that every year one or more Siva lingams have materialised in Baba's body at this sacred period. He ejects the lingams through his mouth for all to observe. They are always hard, being made of crystal clear or coloured stone and sometimes of metals like gold or silver."Are you sure he does not pop them in his mouth just before he goes on stage, and then eject them again at the right moment?" I asked. My hearers looked at me with amusement and pity. One of them said: "He talks and sings for a long time before the lingam comes out, and it's always much too big to hold in the mouth while speaking.
Last year it was so large that he had to use his fingers to pull it out through his lips, and it stretched them so that the sides of his mouth bled." Another added: "There were nine one year. Each was about an inch and a half in height. Imagine holding all those in your mouth while you talked for nearly an hour!" (p. 43)
After about twenty minutes or so of watching Baba's mouth while he writhed and smiled and made attempts to sing, I was rewarded. I saw a flash of green light shoot from his mouth and with it an object which he caught in his hands, cupped below. Immediately he held the object high between his thumb and forefinger so that all could see it. A breath of profound joy passed through the crowd. It was a beautiful green lingam, and certainly much bigger than any ordinary man could bring up through his throat. (p. 46-47)Too many people want to see a miracle, but don't readily know that the power behind the miracle is what is needed to know. Sri Sathya Sai Baba's miracles can NOT be from the same holy source which gave us the bible, because his message is so violently different from the true God, who doesn't share his glory with another (Isa. 42:8).
He stayed there a whole month and witnessed Baba's levitation up the hill to the wish-fulfilling tree, seeing both a bright halo of flame around the young Sai's head and a shaft of light from his forehead between his eyes...Mr. Partasaraty had been suffering from asthma for many years and, soon after his arrival at Puttaparti, Baba materialised an apple with a wave of the hand and told him to eat it as a cure. He has never had another attack of asthma in the quarter-century since that day. (p. 71)
Many have described to me Sai Baba's miraculous production of figures -- usually statuettes of Hindu or other gods -- from the sands, and I have seen it myself. But Nagamani told me that on one occasion when a party went with Baba to the sands of the Chitravati river she saw idols rising up out of the sand themselves. Baba simply scraped away a little sand to reveal the top of the head, then the figure itself began to rise, as if driven up by some power beneath. First, she said, came a figure of Siva, then his consort Parvati, and then a lingam. As each rose a few inches above the sand Baba pulled it out and threw it quickly to one side. This was because the objects were made of metal and were quite hot -- too hot to hold for more than a second. After they had cooled, he took them back to the old Mandir for puja (ritualistic worship). (p. 74)
... he scooped up the sand to form a little mound above the drawing, about six inches high. Still with an air of happy expectation he put his fingers lightly into the top of the mound, perhaps an inch down, and drew out, head first, a silvery shining figure, like the drawing he had made. It was a statue of the god Vishnu, about four inches in height. (pp. 85-86)Vishnu is one of the main pagan deities of Hinduism of its millions of gods. There is actually a demon behind a false god (idol), like Vishnu and so-called avatar Sathya Sai Baba also promoted such wickedness:
No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. (1 Cor 10:20,21)
At the right moment he stepped forward, waved his magic hand in the accustomed way, and materialised two gold rings, each set with a large precious stone. One was for me to put on my wife's finger, and the other for her to put on mine. After that Baba handed us long garlands of flowers with which to adorn each other, and one was given for both of us to place together over Swami's head. The ceremony finished with a chant by the two pundits in unison, invoking -- we were told -- the blessings of a long life under the protection and guidance of Sri Satya Sai Baba. (p. 91)
She had begun earlier to pray to the new divine man of power whom she had found, Sai Baba ... That night she prayed with all her soul to Baba, asking him to heal her and spare her from the operation which she felt she could not survive ... Again she approached Sai Baba through prayer. "Tell me what to do," she prayed ... (pp. 123-124)Prayer is a form of worship. The miracles of Sai Baba have promoted idolatry and paganism. Misled people even prayed to such a fallible man, rather than the Almighty God of the bible (1 Pet. 3:12; etc.), as the sons of the light (1 Thess. 5:5) do!
Psychic research workers have found many case histories of astral travel where a shock to the astral body has caused effects, such as wounds, burns and bruises, on the physical body. This is brought about by the occult law of reciprocity. Baba's sudden rise in temperature seems to have been a mild example of this. All occult involvement is forbidden by God and will lead such people to the fiery lake of burning sulfur:Throughout the 1940s, and for most of the 1950s, Baba often went into a trance during his out-of-the-body journeys. Suddenly and unexpectedly he would become unconscious, and those near him would know that he was away, probably with some devotee at a distant place. On returning, he might or might not tell those around him something of what happened. (p. 139)
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars -- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. (Rev 21:8)
Of course the apport, the transport of a material object without any known material agency, is well-known to spiritualist and other occult circles of the west. I myself have witnessed them there. The theory behind them is that the object, which is already in existence somewhere, is de-materialised and brought in that state by psychic force to the circle where it is re-materialised. Baba has said that some of his "productions" are apports. (p. 184)After promoting idolatry and the occult, Sathya Sai Baba misguides others about spiritual life:
The candidate to the spiritual life must lead a life of truth, penance, insight and right conduct. (p. 197)The so-called spiritual life Sathya Sai Baba refers to is not the real spiritual life the bible mentions. The real spiritual life available for all is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is our life (Jn. 14:6; Col. 3:4; etc.). To be worthy of him we must love him more than our father, mother, son and daughter and take up our cross and follow him (Mat 10:37,38). Jesus is eternal life (1 John 1:2).
Later, after spending more time with him, she wrote in a letter: "I get more and more convinced from within that he is Jesus Christ who has come again, in the fullness of Christ, as Satya Sai Baba." (p. 206)It is exactly as the real Lord Jesus Christ warned about religious miracle-performing deceivers:
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect -- if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, "There he is, out in the desert," do not go out; or, "Here he is, in the inner rooms," do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. (Mat 24:24-27)
There is no need for Me to command invisible spirits since My own divine will materializes the objects. I am everything, everywhere, omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent; and so whatever I will, instantly happens. Like the qualities of truth, love and peace, these are things that generate the atmic (godly) or cosmic forces behind the universe. [ibid.]For Sathya Sai Baba to claim to be everywhere, omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent is to claim to be God! No doubt that is why deceived Sathya Sai Baba received worshiped and his devotees prayed to him for various needs. Shocking! Besides that, Sathya Sai Baba also twisted the teachings of the Lord Jesus to try to make them conform to his own:
As Christ preached, all are one, be alike to everyone. [ibid.]The Lord Jesus Christ did NOT preach all are one. Jesus taught he and the Father are one (John 10:30) and prayed that his followers may be one as he is with the Father (John 17:11,22). All are not one. Scripture also teaches there are children of God and children of the devil and we can know who they are (1 John 3:10)! One will go to a Paradise environment after death, while the other to a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth in fiery torment. Without question, based on the evidence, Sathya Sai Baba is a child of the devil himself, a false god and false Christ, who performed miracles by the power of demons! Jesus forewarned us all of dangerous deceivers, like Sathya Sai Baba (Mt. 24:24,25).
My powers to protect, heal and save people and materialize objects originate in God and can be used only by an Avatar. They are in no way designed, disciplined or developed, but flow from cosmic power. [ibid.]
Again, I do so not because of any need or desire of exhibition of My powers. For Me this is a kind of calling card to convince people of My love for them and secure their devotion in return. [ibid.]Sathya Sai Baba said his powers come to convince people of his love for them and secure their devotion! The truth is, love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (1 Cor 13:6). That is not what Sathya Sai Baba has though he calls it love.
Furthermore, Sathya Sai Baba wants devotion, but we are to be devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 11:3,4; 1 Cor. 7:34,35). We must love Jesus even before our own natural family (Mt. 10:37,38) to be worthy of Jesus, who is eternal life (1 John 1:2)! That is 180 degrees apart from Sai Baba's message because he is not from God though he did miraculous things! Our world is filled with religious deception of various types. Of them all -- near death or life after death experiences have been a major source of that as well as confusion and disorder, but such should not be, because we have the bible -- God's word -- to guide us.
Despite the fact that we do have God's written word -- the bible -- the devil is not in the lake of fire yet. He dwells among us and is constantly trying to devour us through religious deception. He also has great power and can influence visions, dreams, miracles, prophecy, experiences and other things to lead us away from God and his ways, if possible.
Over and over again, NDEs are shown to be inconsistent and untrustworthy, but now we have an NDE testimony of a heretical, deceiving, indisputable false Christ, heretic, occultist and idolater -- allegedly placed in a god-like position as a type of mediator and protector -- cancelling out and replacing the Lord Jesus in the deceived religious minds of Hindu people, who are unaware of the biblical message.
Without question, the devil uses NDEs to mislead people. Folks, go by the Bible alone to learn what happens after death -- not someone's testimony who attests to having a life after death experience and who shares what he thinks actually happened. Clearly, the father of lies -- the devil -- uses such experiences -- as well as other means -- to lethally mislead precious souls, if he can.
Those misled by that man's testimony with the NDE, which mentions Sai Baba, would naturally be caught up with Hindu idolatry and the pagan concept of reincarnation - which flowed from Sai Baba's teachings.
Finally, remember this: Jesus is the light of the world. He is our only mediator and hope. If we have eternal life, it's because we personally have Jesus as our own Lord and Savior, and we are following him here and now -- putting into practice God's word. Sai Baba was nothing more that one of many religious deceivers and miracle performers, who came and went. His body is now rotting away, unlike the body of the Lord Jesus, which gloriously rose from the grave. Jesus is now sitting on the throne at the right hand of God. He will one day return to the Mount Of Olives, with his called, chosen and faithful followers behind him (Rev. 17:14).
There is only one way to have eternal life and prepare for your own death. That single way is through repentance of sins and a sincere faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins. That faith in him must be the kind that will unashamedly follow and obey him -- here and now. I found myself in a great hall with Sai Baba alongside of me. Sai Baba talked with me while I was there in this large hall and asked me whether I wanted to return to my body or not. ...Sai Baba said that I did not complete the work that I had intended to do -- that I was born to do and umh he arose and addressed the Judge and very respectfully and the Judge was very respectful to him and he knew him -- apparently -- very well and he said this soul has not completed the work that he was born to do and I most respectfully ask that this soul be returned to his body in order that he might complete the work that he was born to do and to further my work. And the Judge looked at us for a second or two and said 'so be it.' ...(wife speaks)...And the next thing I knew I was right back standing alongside my body back in the hospital. Then I opened my eyes and I looked at my body and I said I must have made this mistake in deciding to return to it. It seemed like going right back into a cesspool ....According to that life after death account, Sai Baba:
