Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth

Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth Found Six Times

Shocking, but true -- weeping and gnashing of teeth beyond the grave will be reality for some people! Let's take a closer look at this horrifying experience that certain people will have. The phrase weeping and gnashing of teeth appears six times in the bible. Only the Lord Jesus spoke of weeping and gnashing of teeth and such is found only in Matthew's gospel:
But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 8:12)

They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 13:42)

and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 13:50)

Then the king told the attendants, "Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Mat 22:13)

He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 24:51)

And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 25:30)

Who Will Experience Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth

The context alone reveals various details of each passage, but we have already learned who some are who will experience weeping and gnashing of teeth beyond the grave from those citations:

Will Not Inherit The Kingdom Of God

Mat 8:12

Who are the subjects of the kingdom in Mat 8:12? The context shows it is the Jews, but there they are shown to be those who have rejected the Lord Jesus Christ. Many other verses confirm the same truth, while only present tense believers in Jesus Christ have eternal life (1 John 5:11-13).

Mat 13:42

The context shows it is the sons of the evil one (Mat 13:38), who will be weeping and gnashing in outer darkness. They are also called children of the devil in 1 John 3:10. The immediate context of Mat 13:42 shows they cause sin and do evil (Mat 13:41).

Mat 13:50

Again, the immediate context reveals it will be the wicked who will be thrown into the fiery furnace, the location of the weeping and gnashing of teeth (v. 49).

Mat 22:13

In this case, it was the man who was not wearing wedding clothes who was thrown into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mat 22:11-13). Apparently, he didn't have a robe made white in the blood of the Lamb. (Rev 7:14)

Mat 24:51

This person is shown as one who turns wicked over a long period! He became violent and an enemy of God. Appropriately, he will be with the hypocrites experiencing weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mat 24:48-51)!

Mat 25:30

This person was once saved, who became wicked, thus showing again there is no once saved always saved. He had received one talent and was expected to bring forth gain, but had none. Apparently, he was afraid and lazy, which are not justifiable excuses. Again, he was not fruitful, like the others who heard the Lord address them, 'well done good and faithful servant' (Mat 25:21,23). His future consisted of getting thrown into outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth! NOTE: Without question this person once had salvation, but later was without it! In his case, it was over not being fruitful. There absolutely was no once saved always saved for him, just like us today! Charles Stanley's Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth

Shocking but true -- In Touch Charles Stanley says the man of Mat 25:30 who was thrown into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, is IN the kingdom of God - not the fiery furnace, as Jesus taught twice in Mt. 13:42 and Mt. 13:50! Where does Charles Stanley teach that way? In his book, Eternal Security: Can You Be Sure, pages 126, 127. That same book filled with biblical distortions, is promoted by gotquestions.org, Hank Hanegraaff and other spotlight people of our apostate day! Folks, don't send your bible questions to any grace changer like them!

Exposing The Deeds Of Darkness

God's Truth

Now you know that weeping and gnashing of teeth is reserved for the wicked lost people, who die in that condition, though some were once spiritually saved. Weeping and gnashing of teeth is present tense and continuous -- powerfully refuting the cultic idea that the wicked dead will be annihilated. Such will be wailing tears and gnashing their teeth, that is, grinding their teeth in frustration, anger and pain in outer darkness away from Jesus' presence. That cannot be in the kingdom of God, as taught by Charles Stanley and promoted by S. Michael Houdmann, etc. Do NOT let anyone deceive you about weeping and gnashing of teeth in their putrid effort to save OSAS by bible distortions!
