Bitten By a Wolf

It all started with a knock at the door.
Little did I know what I was in for.
I thought it might lead to bible studies.
They first appeared as godly buddies.

The chief speaker said, One of Jehovah's witnesses I am;
And seemed to subject me to a brief bible exam.
They asked me if I knew God's name.
Could that have been the reason they came?

We went over their Watchtower books page by page.
It seemed like I was trapped in an indoctrinational cage.
It took about 6 months and I was baptized in water.
Looking back it was like I became a lamb to the slaughter.

I heard of theocratic war strategy and Christendom as well.
Especially the former seemed to have a deceitful smell.
The 1914 good news of the kingdom we proclaimed at the door.
Jesus started his reign then is the gospel the JWs stand for.

The Lord's evening meal we remembered, once a year;
In memorial to the Lord's resurrection, which we held dear.
No pagan holidays, birthday celebrations or even blood transfusions
Convinced us that we had it right and helped with our conclusions.

Together we preached the Watchtower's kingdom good news.
We did that as we went about with brief cases, in groups of two.
Faithfully we started studies, teaching as we were shown.
When I look back I remorsefully and regretfully groan.

My only Bible then was the New World Translation.
I thought I was taking in knowledge for my salvation.
I believed the anointed class at Bethel were our good guides.
I thought they uniquely had spiritual understanding eyes.

That's how I was taught and I believed it whole.
I even became a pioneer, but it took its toll.
One day when putting in my time I was asked about Jesus, the king.
What's the big deal, I thought; he's only Michael, a mere created thing.

Have I gone to Jesus for eternal life, as the Word says?, I was asked.
That was the start of the Society being unmasked.
Could Jehovah's organization have misused that scripture?
I was determined to learn the biblical picture.

Then I noticed that Stephen, to the Lord Jesus, prayed.
Because that was forbidden to us, I became very afraid.
Could the faithful and discreet slave be in such grave error?
God was showing me His truth and it caused me holy terror.
[Acts 7:59]

How could a prophet likened unto Ezekiel make false predictions?
The organization's shameful history crumbled my original convictions.
Their many end of the world Armageddon failed dates,
Is not the light getting brighter, but a false prophet's traits.
[Prov. 4:18,19; Deut. 18:20-22]

That glaringly embarrassing error intensified my internal tussle.
How could he really dispense meat in due season, as I was taught?
As I read more of the Society's early writings I became very distraught.

I wondered if I had been deceived all along or am I in the truth?
How could the 144,000 be in heaven, since they embraced untruth?
False dates and the like is not taking in knowledge for everlasting life.
JW knowledge became a type of replacement for the Lord Jesus Christ.

All of a sudden my eyes were opened to John 4:10.
I knew for certain the Kingdom Hall was a wolf's den.
The JW message preached at the doors does not parallel Acts.
1914 surely was not part of the Apostle's gospel facts.

Then my pride stepped forth to defend all my deceptions.
But then I thought God opposes the proud, with no exception.
Scripture is the truth and of wolves in sheep's clothing it warns.
Such Watchtower fruit is not good, but painful thistles and thorns.

I also noticed door to door is not the same as going house to house.
No scripture states to go door to door with your spouse.
In church houses -- private homes -- is where the disciples did meet.
Paul taught elders from church house to church house, even in the heat.
[Philemon 2; Acts 20:17-20]

False prophets must be good deceivers, because they'll deceive many.
Without question, the global Watchtower victims are horribly plenty.
How could I have been in such deep deception lured?
Though I don't know all the details, that I am sure.
[Mt. 24:11; Lk. 21:8]

I humbly went to King Jesus for eternal life, as it reads.
From my knees, I humbly begged him for my dire spiritual needs.
When I did, I was elated, washed and forgiven of my great sin debts,
Which the merciful God not only forgave, but also forgets.
[Jn. 4:10; Jn. 5:39,40; Lk. 18:13,14; 1 John 5:12; Lk. 18:13,14; 23:42,43; Isa. 43:25]

When I turned to the Lord Jesus, my heart's veil was taken away.
What a joyful rush filled my soul as my burden was removed that day.
I became a new creation in Christ and was set free from my sin addictions.
That was something that was never possible with my former convictions.

Jesus now has all authority in heaven and is worshiped by God's angels.
Besides all of that I know Michael is just one of the multiple archangels.
Jesus is from everlasting and is eternal life.
Those truths of God first cut me like a very sharp knife.
[Mt. 28:18; Heb. 1:6; Dan 10:13; Micah 5:2; 1 John 5:20 cf. 1:2; Heb. 4:12]

Equal honor belongs to the Father and Jesus both,
To honor the Son just as the Father was part of my growth.
I also noticed God with another, his glory doesn't share.
In heaven the object of praise and worship is the Father and Son pair.
[Jn. 5:23; Isa. 42:8; 48:11; Rev. 5:13,14]

I once thought my elders were all Jehovah-loving and honest hearted,
I sadly admit my error there, which came to light before I departed.
They blindly followed their human leaders over God's written word.
No wonder their spiritual understanding is so foggy and blurred.
[2 Cor. 3:14-16]

I wasted precious years in deception, toil and needless pain.
I know now how I became brainwashed and blindly trained.
JW materials were magnified, as their sole teaching psychology.
Even the NWT bible is a distortion to support their theology.

Our fatal flaw was believing only the JW headquarters has God's truth.
That's a very common tactic used by cults to gain gullible recruits.
So who teaches others that only the Watchtower can understand God's Word?
It was none other than the wolf itself, who doesn't know the Lord.

To belong to Jehovah's Witnesses is not the same as to do God's will.
The true ark of safety is not any organization, but Jesus, our salvation thrill.
Doctrines of demons rule pre-eminently at the Society's headquarters.
Sadly, the faithful rank and file JW minister is only a type of porter.

The Lord's disciples were not called Jehovah's Witnesses, but Christians.
That's how all disciples should address themselves, even on missions.
Jehovah is an invented hybrid name for God from the thirteenth century;
To know its origin from a Catholic monk, Raymundus Martini, is elementary.
[Acts 1:8 cf. 11:26; 1 Pet.4:16]

The Holy Spirit is the true Christian's teacher -- a bible dictum.
To rely on Jehovah's organization is to become a wolf's victim.
That's how millions around the world have been eternally lost.
Being spiritually gullible, comes at a terribly great cost.
[Jn. 7:17; 14:26; Deut. 4:29; Mt. 7:7; 1 John 2:27; 4:1; Mt. 15:14b]

If you are a JW, read ONLY the Bible, especially the New Testament.
Reading it from various reputable translations is your best investment.
Based on the Word, change your beliefs and the way you behave.
Go to Jesus for eternal life, even if you're shunned and called an evil slave.

I now have Jesus and because of him eternal life too.
I went to that infinite treasure from what was horribly untrue.
I once was in religious darkness, death and enslaved.
Jesus taught, He who endures to the end will be saved.
